Relaxing day today.

Full clean, but wasn’t all that dirty in the first place.

Kinja'd!!!

White comes up nice in person close up but from a distance it doesn’t do it justice from a short distance or in pictures

Kinja'd!!!

I didn’t do the engine bay this time as it was still clean from last time

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Dressed wheel arches (only dressed the front of the front wheel arches as the rest are carpeted) .

Kinja'd!!!

Wheels came up nice. Nothing fancy

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Air vents cleaned, ash trays taken out and cleaned underneath. Pedals scrubbed and mats vacuumed and shampooed

Kinja'd!!! !!!CAPTION ERROR: MAY BE MULTI-LINE OR CONTAIN LINK!!! Kinja'd!!!

Common missed area on these types of seats is the thigh supports. Simple enough to pull the handle under the seat to open out and vacuum but often left uncleaned

Kinja'd!!!

I missed a little bit just under the top hinge on the door.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Another area often left uncleaned is the door shuts, especially the bits behind the rubber. Simply run a gloved finger along in front of the cloth your using to clean between the door and the rubbers. Don’t pull the rubber, just run your gloved finger in front of the cleaned cloth

Kinja'd!!!

As I repost this I’m sitting back and enjoying a pint of John Smiths and a large Scotch.

I test drove one of these in 535i M-sport trim before getting my 4-series. The thing is like a fortress of luxury on wheels. Everything was spectacular to the touch and the throttle response was just a very authoritative but tame pull. It’s just like a silky smooth freight train.

Sadly I didn’t like how disconnected it was. I still want to try an M5 of that generation though. I bet it’s like  a ballistic missile

I have a post man who had an M5 Competition with crazy amounts of money spent on carbon fibre pieces here and there.

He said it was incredibly fast. It was the most powerful M5 until the 25 Jahre Alt came out, which he wasn’t happy about, he now owns a Range Rover Sport but looking at getting an X5. He doesn’t keep cars long.

In the time I’ve known him he went from a 6 Series coupe, M3 coupe, X6 (which was comical as Willie isn’t more than five feet tall), M5 Competition to the current Range Rover Sport.

That is a very tasteful list of cars.

Except the X6. That thing just looked awful.

‘Offload Coupe’ , boll ocks, a non pillar-less Five door Coupe that was rubbish on and off road.

Willie never washed the roof in all the time he owned it, his reasoning was, ‘ I can’t reach the roof, so I don’t clean it’.

*sigh* My car’s paint might actually have survived if it had you taking care of it.

This one is six years or so old and has it’s fair share of chips, unfortunately the owner has tried touching one in, heavily, with the wrong white paint.

Looks great!

I did a rinseless wash in my driveway at 5am this morning. In the dark. Well, I had the porch light on, but otherwise it was dark. It sounds crazy, but it’s really relaxing. No one else is out, and the car is clean and ready to go for work by 8am. If you keep your car basically clean most of the time, you don’t need to do a deep cleaning on a weekly basis.

Rinseless wash is (as the kids say) “the bomb”.

I’ve never used a rinseless wash. I’ve removed the odd birdbomb from a slightly dirt car a few times but that’s it.

I wish you lived near me.

Lol. I’d have to live very close as I think you’d be using my driveway to park on each evening.

For a quick wash of not too dirty car, it’s great. You don’t have to drag a hose out and it goes pretty quick.

Fill one bucket with the rinseless wash, and soak a pile of good condition, small, microfiber towels in the wash. Then swipe a soaked towel over each panel, then dry each panel as you go.

If you flip and/or fold the microfiber after each wipe, there’s very little chance you’ll mar the paint.

Here’s the stuff I use (not affiliated , just like their stuff).

I’d settle for you just flying in and properly training a detailer near me.

Why is it so hard to find someone I can trust with my paint? The only guy in town I trust has his own business doing paint correction and ceramic coatings. He has no time for me. Everyone else uses the same wash mitt on the wheels AND the paint!

I’m an Autogeek’er as well (though find the forum hard to navigate round).

I just like getting the hose and snow foam lance out and making the day of it.

Ouch, same wash mitt for paint and wheels. I don’t even use the same bucket. I always do the wheels first so if there is any splash back it’s not going onto cleaned paint.

The guy who owns the BMW is the guy I took two weeks off work to show him how to clean a car fully, then how to look, listen and feel the car to do what the car needs doing.

It was a good three days doing three nice cars.

Oh yeah that’s for sure. If I wanted a BMw suv I would just get an X5M. But then again, the better choice in my opinion would be a Cayenne Turbo or GTS.

They don’t even know about the 2 bucket method, or why one should clay before polishing.
